3d Bones Basics : So what are bones for? how to use them? i only want to deform objects but bones could help me? So many questions, so many answers, you can read the manuals but i will show a very basic way to start with it, this little tutorial will discuss about bones for LW and how they will help you.

3Dspline : LW Tutorials: Animation, Modeling, Special F/X, Texturing. *** LW Downloads: Lightwave meshes, Lightwave plugins, Textures, 3D wallpapers.

Compositing : 3D compositing can be extremely challenging but at the same time, very rewarding. Unfortunely, one of the difficult parts of compositing is to create a format that is usable in a variety of editing environments. Lightwave's alpha channel is an exellent way to do this even if making a "perfect alpha" is quite tricky......

Create an Outdoor Scene : In this tutorial, we will create an outdoor scene from scratch, complete with some terrain, water, clouds and vegetation. by Eki Halkka

Create complex meshes with NURBS : Creating organic meshes with metanurbs can be easy, but some meshes can be more than a headache! also with nurbs, but here i will show some tricks that make more easy the use of NURBS.

Explosion : A simple particle explosion. I've noticed reading the newsgroups & such that a lot of people are interested in blowing things up! Although Lightwave doesnt have a "bomb" button, you can make your own explosions that look a lot more realistic. All it takes is imagination. (and Lightwave 3D)

Hypervoxel Metaballs : Hypervoxel Tutorial for lightwave6 by Ethereal 3D. This is the scene(animated) we will create using Hypervoxels 3 in Lightwave6b.

Jimmy Neutron : NewTek -- NewTek talked recently with John Davis, co-founder of DNA Productions, Inc, who is responsible for the hugely anticipated and well-reviewed Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, the just-released all-CG film from Nickelodeon and Paramount.

LightWave® Plug-in Server Development Kit - NewTek : Programming: Introduction, Compiling, Common Elements, Compatibility, Classes, Globals, Handlers, Commands, Shared Mechanisms, DynaValues, File I/O, Image I/O, Mesh Info, Raytracing, File Formats, Change History, Articles, Tables.

Making a humanoid : Lightwave 3D is my choice for mdl creation. If you own a copy of Lightwave, you may already know how to use it well and may not need this part of the tutorial, but there's probably some people out there who have no idea how to make a decent model for Quake with Lightwave. That's what I'm here for. Hopefully this tutorial will get you on your way to making new baddies for Quake in no time.

Modeling : This will be a multi-part article on various modeling techniques in Lightwave 5.6 (‘though almost all the techniques should work in 5.5). I also plan on showing how to setup the creature for organic animation using bones, Morph Gizmo, and MetaMation.

Modeling a Brain : My work often requires me to produce medical diagrams. To that end I decided to take up the challenge of producing a 3D model of the human brain with Lightwave. My goal was to create the wrinkled cortex of the brain as a subpatch cage. Below is a description of how I did it. The first section describes modeling the overall shape of the brain. The second section discusses creating the wrinkles on the surface of the brain. The third section tells about the process of making a spherical UV map to texture the surface of the cortex.

Modelling a Puppet Hand : Although this tutorial shows how to model a simple "puppet hand" the same basic techniques can be used to model just about anything.

Modeling an orc : Orc blueprint setting - Create with your favourite painting program a side view and a front view of the orc. It doesn't have to be very detailed, i prefer add detail directly on the model, here we need only the guidelines.

Modeling with bones : Using bones as a modeling tool: its knot hard. Here is a handy technique for making a detailed linear object bend into a complicated shape. It can be hard to bend an object into a convoluted shape with Modeler's bend tool. It is not as hard to bend a spline curve into a complicated shape. I know this technique is not new, but since I almost never do any animation I have not studied bones very much, and I did not know about this until recently.

Niklas Andersson : Greetings and welcome to the NEW Tutorials for the People. Here you will find Lightwave tutorials written and compiled by me, your Party Officer Niklas Andersson.

Realistic explosion : Let's get started with our Hypervoxel explosion, because I know you all want to know the latest and greatest way to blow the crap out of stuff. (Plus, it’s very easy to set up and implement into an old explosion scene, or great for topping off a new one.)

Scott Cameron : Intro to 3D, Intro to LightWave, The Business of 3D, Hardware / OS for 3D. Lighting Basics, Caustics, Radiosity, Volumetrics. Cinematography: Camera Work, Compositing.Tool Basics, Splines, SubPatch Surfaces, Detailing Techniques, Architecture, Text/Logo Creation, Vehicles, Household Items, Clouds, Water, Land, Foliage. Space Ships, Space Objects, Space Effects, Human, Heads, Feet, Hands, Bodies, Hair, Toon / Anime, Non-Human / animal.

Shave And A Haircut : This is the finest and fastest photo-realistic hair renderer money can buy, and has more in common with ILM’s Oscar™-winning hair renderer than it has with its competitors. This is not so surprising when you consider that Shave And A Haircut’s author wrote ILM’s first hair renderer 6 years ago. This altogether new fractal hair rendering algorithm requires less than 32MB of RAM to render millions of hairs, and is several orders of magnitude faster than previous approaches.

Texturing For Dummies : An Introduction and Overview of Texturing :: Standard Projection Techniques and UV Mapping :: Making Colour Maps :: The Diffusion Confusion... :: Specularity, Gloss and Reflection :: Translucency, Transparency and Refraction

The123d : Lightwave tutorial at the123d lightwave tutorial resource - Welcome to the lightwave tutorial resource. This page is dedicated to all your lightwave tutorial needs. You can also browse through the categories above to find another software specific 3d tutorial. If you'd like to write a lightwave tutorial for us - we'd be happy to here from you ! If your looking to improve your lightwave skills - start with a lightwave tutorial! Hope you have fun !

Tutorials LightWave : Interactive Guides: Introduction to Layout, Introduction to Modeler, Modeler Viewpoint Overview, Modeler Layers Overview, Rendering Overview *** Animation: Proxy Objects, Smart Skins, Rotating a moon around a planet, Rotating a Gear, Making Objects Follow a Path, FX Linker, Logo Animation, Eyes Setup, Pivot Points
